What the Heck!

My dad texts me into the 2nd OT...then again 20 seconds left in the 4th OT. I mean, I get it..... it's an EXCITING game! But, help a mom out. Call me before, huh? I vowed to not miss ANY of Blakes games this year. I was out all week with my aching shoulder....worst.pain.ever..... even more than kidney stones at 7mo prego. I wanted to die. Had to take 5 days off of work, 3 Drs. appts, no sleep, and Curt wouldn't run me over with the car per my wishes. What a jerk.

Anyway, this is not about me...this is about the fact that Blakes game went into 4 OT's and he scored 54 pts! Now, is that amazing or what? And I missed it. I can't believe it. I cried all night....not because of the shoulder this time.

Here's a news clip.....it's not even close to as good as being there, but I am proud just the same.

He's Amazing!

I can begin to tell you the many emotions that a mom would experience while watching her son score 44 pts. in a game...but I wouldn't be able to finish. For starters...

Amazement.... they just kept going in! It was so fun to watch.

Love...seeing Chase video tape the game and cheer for Blake each time he scored and Coop calling from a friends to ask how his brother did and how he was doing. Brothers. Love.

Joy...knowing that Blake has worked hard and been dedicated, since he was 5, to this game of basketball. He's been patient, played roles, stepped up, and is doing his best at making this an experience for his team. That makes me so happy....to see him happy.

Sentiment...This experience is also something that Curt gets to share with our son. I am grateful for how wise he is... and talented. I remember watching him play and coach throughout the years and know his passion for basketball as well. He's been a huge example for Blake and has kept his focus when times aren't so great.....I know, right? Sports getting ugly? Nah!

Last Bball Season!

No words for this. If you've had a senior , you know what I'm feeling right now. If you haven't, and you have kids, you WILL! Either way, we all feel joy watching our kids be able to do what they love. Right now, I am full of joy and super proud.

Blake scored 32 points...winning would have been better, but you can't go winning games right off the bat. They've got nowhere to go but UP! This was a write up of the game

This is what I saw as I came home from work!

Im happy for the moments I get to watch Blake play basketball...

This little boy!

*This little boy has had a ball in his hands since he could walk
*This little boy would snuggle on the couch watching basketball games with his Daddy
*This little boy held nightly basketball games and tournaments in our little apartment
*This little boy wrote about basketball games, players, and teams in his writer's workshop since Kinder
*This little boy learned how to count by 2's, 3's and do math by keeping score
*This little boy and his buddy Jace would dress up in Gary Payton and John Stockton jerseys and "do work" in the driveway
*This little boy's fave player is Chase Buddinger, he even wrote to Arizona's coach Kevin O'Neill...and got a response!
*This little boy (and his Dad) would be in tears after basketball games while discussing it in the car (still do)
*This little boy cheated on his March Madness bracket when his mom was beating him
*This little boy has spend hours upon hours in the gym, at camps, tournaments, training, workouts
*This little boy knows how to play the game inside and out.
*This little boy will beat you at trivia. He could hold a legitimate sports conversation at 5.
*This little boy is 6'3....just taller than his Daddy
*This little boy will only wear Nike/Jordan apparel
*This little boy can dunk a basketball
*This little boy is a Jr. at a 5A high school, playing V
*This little boy will be graduating next year
*This little boy is my baby, I will never get over what an amazing person he is.

This brings me to tears......This is how I will always picture my boy, Blake

All in a Night...

Day 4...A picture of your night
My weeknights consist of getting home from work, preparing/cleaning up dinner (sometimes this doesn't happen til 8pm), taking kids to/from practice, going to baseball and basketball games, making sure kids have clean clothes/things for school, reading with boys, giving hugs and kisses (Cooper always yells, "MOM! Come give hug and kiss!!"). If Im lucky...I will take a bath with water that is so hot that I pass out. Not to mention the "special" nights where you can add class for me, church group, appointments, errands, and whatnot!! It's a wonderful life....only because I don't have two seconds to think otherwise.

Basketball Season 2010-2011

I forget how much I enjoy being in a gym two nights a week for 6 hrs straight, on hard bench seats, the boys running around bouncing/shooting their basketballs, and having to settle for nachos for dinner.....not sarcasm. We are accusomed and I love, LOVE, being able to watch Blake play! He amazes me everytime. He had a great season making the JV/V team, but also played on the Sophomore team. He got some valuable minutes on the V during the 4A State tourney. Why would you put a Sophomore, who hasn't played more than a qrt. on V, in as the 6th man, in the quarter and semi-final games...you ask? I have no idea... but I DO know that I have so much confidence in this kid that he could do anything and he definitely rises to the challenge! I am so proud of this boy! He's lucky to have a dad who has coached and taught him well since Kindergarten:). I don't think Blake would be as successful without him. I have to mention that it took YEARS of yelling, arguing, hurt egos, hot headedness (that's a word:), and tears before this could happen. Aint it beautiful! So, his season ended Friday night and he went to baseball the following morning. Awesome.

I recall.........And now.....

I recall when Blake would make Curt and I sit in the living room, opposite sides, in sports paraphernalia, and announce his name when he comes running out in his basketbll jersey. If we didn't yell/cheer right.....we had to do it over. It continued on through the 1st qrt., 2nd qrt., half time (I may have had to perform a few times:), 3rd quarter and finally, 4th. We powered through THE WHOLE GAME, in our tiny apartment living room. That was the life! We laugh about it all the time and love it.

I recall when Chase was soooooo excited for his first little league baseball game (6). He layed his uniform out the night before....literally, like a person. He was up, dressed in full (including cup) by 6am. We headed out to the game at 5:30. They go through the lineup and when it's his teams turn to take the field, Chase runs out to center field, ready as can be. We see him dancing around and imitating himself catching the ball. When they come back in to bat, Chase runs to me and says "I need new pants." Me-"why?" Chase, "I didnt want to come out, I pee'd these ones." This is a boy who potty trained himself by 2!! His pants were drenched. Mind you, he had baseball socks that went up past his thighs that soaked up the majority of it. We didn't know whether to laugh or.....????...... I guess you just laugh at that. Right? I mean, what choice do you have? Gotta love that committment.

And now, Coopers first Jr. Jazz basketball game. He has been talking about it for weeks. Got his clothes ready early this morning, started stretching out hours before and did lines in the hall at the gym to impress his coach. He made a couple baskets and was so proud of himself. On the way home he goes "it's not about winning or losing, it's about having fun." And I replied, "maybe for now. That's not gonna cut it later buddy." Hah! Who's this coach filling his brain with such malarkey? LOL. It was so fun watching this little tyke enjoying himself. We were thinking that they all look so happy and are having fun. When do we screw them up? Where does it go awry? Quite the conundrum...

The boys and their havoc!

Blake thought it would be a great gift for the "little boys" to get them basketball hoops. "Temporary," he says? Next thing I know furniture is moved out of the way, decor is put in other room (I have to appreciate the fact at least they removed items instead of breaking like previous) and baskets stuck to the wall, on both ends of the room, with a glue-like adhesive. Admitting that I DO love to watch them and their carnivorous behaviors with each other, I'm still wondering how we will successfully get those down without damage. Or, did they plan on taking them down at all? Are these permanent? One would ask that.....wouldn't they?

Yes...Dad has to join too! More so Blake can try bringing him down....which he never can.

Blake Scored 36 points!

Of course, Curt nor I could make it to his game. But, Grandpa did so I had to call him to make sure...I didn't believe him and I couldn't trust his friend Jordan either. He also broke a kids nose. I guess the message got across because everyone backed off when he got the rebound after that. Curt says it's "basketball ettiquitte" Everyone knows that once someone gets a rebound you move on. They called the foul on the kid anyway so I guess he's right. So far their team is 9-0. Most of the teams haven't been that great (a few good ones) but the boys are playing awesome regardless.
